The University of Victoria is located in Saanich and Oak Bay within Greater Victoria, 5.71 km northeast of downtown Victoria. A globally recognized research-intensive university and founded in 1963, UVic offers innovative programs for more than 20,000 students. Our dynamic hands-on approach to learning—in Canada’s most extraordinary environment for discovery and innovation gives students a unique advantage. UVic has a wide variety of offerings including very strong engineering and computer science departments (In fact, UVic ranks third nationally in engineering). The Faculty of Engineering’s internationally-recognized researchers include 10 Canada Research Chairs and an NSERC Environmental Design Chair — exceptional for a faculty with 83 faculty members.
Beyond the classroom, UVic is part of the community. With civic engagement a key part of our mission, our faculty, students and staff collaborate with a diverse range of community partners in Canada and abroad on essential issues that matter to people, places and the planet.
